The genealogy of Jesus

Image
When you study the genealogy of Jesus and notice that he has prostitutes in his bloodline, women who got their father drunk and had sex with him committing incest, murderers, adulterers, people not of Israelite bloodlines, people who had pre-marital sex, and other people who have done pretty wild things, you realize a lot of quite interesting things. But I'm just going to share two of the most obvious things here: 1 ) Based on His "family" He probably doesn't give 2 farts about your past, and your "family", so don't let that hinder you from turning to Him. And, don't let that disqualify you in your mind from being able to do some big things for Him. 2 ) I think that kind of crushes the ignorant theology of generational curses, because He'd have had been in a ton of trouble from the start. But proper reading of scripture should have settled that in your mind already.

No Christians harmed

I think it's interesting that in AD70 when Jerusalem fell in a very destructive fashion, that no Christians were harmed. God doesn't bring us to ruin, He delivers us from ruin

An example of bad beliefs and rotten theology

Image
I'm going to show an example of the type of stuff I am trying to educate and teach people about. The post I am going to quote below is a perfect example. With a little change in beliefs and theology you would take a person that is allowing of the enemy to cause destruction in their life, and mold them into a person who is rebuking the enemy and being the victor. Read the following: "I'm tired of giving the enemy credit for anything in my life. Yeah, I may be under various attacks, but you know what? God is always in control and He makes all things work together for my good. So any attack is for my benefit. Instead of just crying for protection from the enemy's attacks, I'm thanking God for blessing me with the attack because He will be glorified through it." [END QUOTE] You see, this post I just quoted is a fairly typical Christian post or comment, it would probably get a lot of "likes" and "amens", but it is so deeply flawed. L...

Inerrancy of Scripture

Image
Regarding the inerrancy of scripture William B. Evans explains it very well: Having discussed what inerrancy is, we also need to note what it is not. That is, the doctrine is sometimes misunderstood, and all too often a caricature of the doctrine is attacked. Five persistent misconceptions may be mentioned here. First the Bible's view of inspiration is not a sort of mechanical "dictation theory." Such theories we rightly associate with the Book of Mormon and the Muslim view of the Qur'an. By contrast, the Christian view of inspiration involves a proper recognition of the genuinely human element in Scripture, and so as students of the Bible we strive to understand the historical context of the biblical writings and the characteristics of the human authors. To be sure, there are isolated examples of dictation, such as the giving of the Ten Commandments, but that is not the usual mode of inspiration. Second, the doctrine of inerrancy does not require that ...

Religion perverts and poisons what Christ does.

Image
When you first meet Jesus, you are filled with love. You want to introduce Him to everyone, you are so darn giddy and floating on cloud 9. Then you get "taught" to hate, that some people or groups are bad, that certain acts, which vary from church to church and denomination to denomination, will separate you from God. You get told to not hang out with certain people, to stay away from different places, to not listen to certain things. Your excitement abates, you get indoctrinated, and your posts that first were filled with love and caring for others and a desire for others to know this One who loves you so much, turn to "warning", pointing out "false teachers", accusing, berating, attacking, judging. No one is off limits, not even your best friend, your parents, your siblings. You excuse it by saying Jesus said He came to set you against your family. Scriptures begin to be taken out of context, what is to be used to guide people to Christ, the...

The last days...

Image
Are we living in the last days? I don't know, but Christians have been saying it is for longer than I, or anyone reading this, have been alive. Most who have screamed it the loudest are dead or close to it. My advice, if you want it, is to stop longing for the end and walk like it's the beginning. You know, the beginning, like the 1st day you met Jesus. The excitement you had and how it just escaped through your tiniest pores. Let that excitement live anew in you and let others want that as badly as you did. Also, stop making a bunch of guessers rich by investing in all of their "end times" propaganda. Use the money you are spending on that on someone in need. Trust me, it's a better investment of time and money.

You wanna go to war?

Image
Just like what occurs in actual wars and even the wars of Pepsi vs. Coke, McDonalds vs. Burger King, Raiders vs. Classiness, and Cowboys vs. Intelligence, this "us against them" mentality in Christianity is ultimately designed to benefit someone. Although it appears that the people who are standing strong waving the banner for their preferred choice will benefit, which they usually have been heavily marketed and manipulated into choosing even in churches. Usually the benefact or(s) is(are) the source(s) of the division. How much has been made, in various ways, off the backs of people that have been led into going to war over trivial issues, or trivial choices, that have been carefully, meticulously, crafted, and manipulated into being a catalyst to war with a fellow man over. Something to think about.
