Bad beliefs are so frustratingly sad

Image
It's so frustratingly sad how many Christians actually desire something bad to happen to them so they can "pass a test" from God. I'm sure satan has an absolute field day in their lives. I hate this foolish belief, that God gives bad gifts, with such a passion. I just don't understand what goes on in someone's mind where they don't realize that it is so far from Truth. Especially with this week being a remembrance of an event that shows just how far God goes on behalf of His children. If the cross isn't evidence that He has nothing but good in mind for you. An event where He would face immense suffering to be victorious on your behalf, so you don't have to face suffering, I don't know what will make it click. But I'll keep on sharing in hope that one day the scales fall off of many eyes.

An example of bad beliefs and rotten theology

I'm going to show an example of the type of stuff I am trying to educate and teach people about. The post I am going to quote below is a perfect example. With a little change in beliefs and theology you would take a person that is allowing of the enemy to cause destruction in their life, and mold them into a person who is rebuking the enemy and being the victor. Read the following: "I'm tired of giving the enemy credit for anything in my life. Yeah, I may be under various attacks, but you know what? God is always in control and He makes all things work together for my good. So any attack is for my benefit. Instead of just crying for protection from the enemy's attacks, I'm thanking God for blessing me with the attack because He will be glorified through it." [END QUOTE] You see, this post I just quoted is a fairly typical Christian post or comment, it would probably get a lot of "likes" and "amens", but it is so deeply flawed. L...

God gives and takes away? Really?

Image
Have you been caught in the trap of bad theology? How about this one? 'The Lord gives and takes away'. There's even a song that I actually like except for that particular verse. There are sermons about it, many devotionals and it's like people base their entire beliefs around this single verse taken out of context. Job himself admits, humbled, that he was speaking from a place of ignorance, that   he misunderstood what was happening and specifically God Himself. The book was written for us to learn from Job and his friends mistakes, not duplicate them. We don't have to be ignorant of God's character, we simply need to look at Jesus and think of all the times He gave good things and then took them away.... I'll give you a minute to count them... What number did you come up with?   Listen, it's one thing to praise the Lord no matter the circumstance, THAT is biblically supported, THAT is how you deal with things, THAT is how I roll, THAT is what I do, ...
