Interpretation: the greatest idol.

Image
I've found when discussing the scriptures with others that we don't disagree, or debate, the words written, we disagree, or debate, over the interpretation. I find as humans that type of mentality infiltrates more than just books, it infiltrates our interactions with those we are in relationship with, or that we speak with in passing. We seem to place so much value on our own interpretations of a variety of things, that we end up elevating an interpretation, no matter how fal se it may end up being, above Love. We stop walking in Love because we in fact have made our interpretations of things, whether it's due to past experiences, hurt, pain, our self centered wisdom, or a variety of other things, into an idol. An idol that rules our lives. We don't have to live like this. We have a better way. We know a better Way, Truth, and Life. Let's walk in Love, and only Love. What do we really have to lose walking in His way, walking in Love?

Stay away from the world? Really?

I've noticed that people cling to scriptures that seem to imply that we should not spend time with the lost, that we should come out of the world, that we are not for this place, etc. Who am I to go against that, it is written in scripture after all. See, I admit and agree that those words do seem to be in scripture, but interestingly enough, Jesus seemed to have modeled the exact opposite. He sp ent most of His time with the lost, with some of the "worst" of the lost, in mainstream Christianity's eyes. In fact He spent time with them right where they were at not in a temple built by human hands. You see, a few years back I was drawn to a Love that I can't even begin to describe and at that time, I, in the blink of an eye was made new. I made a conscious decision that moment to follow that Man of unconditional Love, that God of Love, and follow Jesus the Christ. The thing is that by in fact following Jesus I have unfortunately ran into some that are so q...

Don't call the Holy Spirit a liar.

If you pay attention, in scriptures Jesus healed in a variety of different ways. He had a habit, it seems, of healing various people in various different ways. It should give us pause when we look at a singular thing as a way to manifest healing or manifest miracles. I think people pigeonhole healing and miracles due to their reliance on scripture, rather than reliance on Christ in them and the Holy Spirit. The problem with relying on scripture alone regarding ways to heal, is as I mentioned, that Jesus healed in a variety of different ways. Jesus did so many miraculous things we don't even have record of all of them, yet we try to place limits because we don't read it in scripture. John wrote that there were so many more things that Jesus did. He said that the books of the world couldn't hold the accounts of them. So, simply looking to scripture as an example of how to walk in healing and miracles is not going to tell you the be all and end all of healing and miracl...

Misinterpretation

Image
I've ran into quite a few people that completely misinterpret what I am saying or meaning by something, and I know I'm not the only one they misinterpret the same way... Yet they refuse completely to consider that they may be just as bad at interpreting scriptures.

What about all the wrath in the book of Revelation? by Richard Murray

Image
Yes, what about all the wrath in Revelation? My friend, Richard Murray , answers your questions, please take the time to read and learn. The search for Truth should always be worth a few minutes of your time: WHAT ABOUT ALL THE WRATH IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION? by Richard Murray The purpose of this discussion is not to explain ALL the mysteries of Revelation. Rather, I want to highlight the key dynamics of how to read, interpret and understand the book in light of what we now know about God's goodness. Revelation is the "final exam" for understanding the goodness of God. If we don't already know the nature of God, we will never understand the book of Revelation. As Revelation 5 clearly shows, ONLY the divine nature and wisdom of Jesus is WORTHY and ABLE to unseal and open the mysteries of the book. People usually advertise Revelation as revealing a God who is incredibly violent, wrathful and destructive. Yet, is this true? Is this violent image the true ...
