Give us Barabbas!

Image
I think that American Christians™ would be a lot more honest during their worship times if they were singing out "Give us Jesus Barabbas! Give us Jesus Barabbas! Give us Jesus Barabbas! Give us Jesus Barabbas! Give us Jesus Barabbas! Give us Jesus Barabbas!*" instead of songs that are to be directed at "Jesus the Messiah", based on their love of war, separation, exclusion, unforgiveness, and judgment. We must break free from this destructive belief system that has infected those that should intimately know Him. *Barabbas's name appears as bar-Abbas in the Greek texts of the gospels. It is derived ultimately from the Aramaic בר-אבא, Bar-abbâ, "son of the father". Some ancient manuscripts of Matthew 27:16–17 have the full name of Barabbas as "Jesus Barabbas" and this was probably the name as originally written in the text.[13] Early church father Origen was troubled by the fact that his copies of the gospels gave Barabbas' name as ...

Listen, learn, run, grow

I agree with Jeff Turner  on this wholeheartedly, please visit his blog at http://jeff-turner.org/  for many messages and videos of his preaching. Enjoy these words by Jeff Turner: If you are in the same place in your beliefs today as you were 10, 20, or 30 + years ago, one of two things is going on - 1.) You are the luckiest son of a gun on earth, and out of 7 billion + people just happen to be the *ONE* who believed everything right the first time around, or 2.) You've stopped listening, learning, and running headlong towa rds truth at all costs. Christianity, and life in general, while being a place of rest and arrival, is also a continuous journey on which beliefs are shed and new ones are gained; old paradigms are challenged and new ones emerge to take their place. There is something to be said for stability, sure, but there's also something to be said about stagnation. Teachers specifically ought to be constantly growing in their understanding of Who God is...

Following man? Really?

Image
Many times I get accused of "following man" due to what I share, and my beliefs. The interesting thing about that is that almost 100% of the time it's an accusation from people who's core beliefs have only been taught by "man" the last 100-150 years or so. If you study history you would find that most modern beliefs were taught only by man and usually they served a purpose, 9 times out of 10 a ne gative purpose, fear, oppression, control, superiority complex, judging, hypocrisy, us against them, slave/master relationships, man on a pedestal, etc.   My beliefs are actually historically in tune with the church fathers, the ones who wrote scripture that people have placed on the highest pedestal, yet when you espouse the beliefs of those that wrote that worshipped bible, you get told you are not biblical. Confused yet? Yeah, I don't get it either. My beliefs, and what I share from wise men and women of God, empower people, they guide them into heali...

Inviting spiritual warfare

You know, I realize that the enemy does attack us frequently, I will never, ever, say he doesn't, but I'm not far from being convinced that some go through much more spiritual warfare because they focus so much on spiritual warfare and it completely infiltrates and fills their beliefs to the point where their world revolves around spiritual warfare and they end up inadvertently opening a door to t hese attacks. I base this on the experience of focusing completely on God's love, peace, mercy, and grace and letting it so infiltrate and fill your beliefs to the point where you end up walking and living out a love, peace, mercy, and grace that most people, even Christians, don't understand or find confusing. Your whole world revolves around God's love, peace, mercy, and grace and no matter what comes against you, that's what manifests itself in your life and actions.
