When you study the genealogy of Jesus and notice that he has prostitutes in his bloodline, women who got their father drunk and had sex with him committing incest, murderers, adulterers, people not of Israelite bloodlines, people who had pre-marital sex, and other people who have done pretty wild things, you realize a lot of quite interesting things. But I'm just going to share two of the most obvious things here: 1 ) Based on His "family" He probably doesn't give 2 farts about your past, and your "family", so don't let that hinder you from turning to Him. And, don't let that disqualify you in your mind from being able to do some big things for Him. 2 ) I think that kind of crushes the ignorant theology of generational curses, because He'd have had been in a ton of trouble from the start. But proper reading of scripture should have settled that in your mind already.

When you first meet Jesus, you are filled with love. You want to introduce Him to everyone, you are so darn giddy and floating on cloud 9. Then you get "taught" to hate, that some people or groups are bad, that certain acts, which vary from church to church and denomination to denomination, will separate you from God. You get told to not hang out with certain people, to stay away from different places, to not listen to certain things. Your excitement abates, you get indoctrinated, and your posts that first were filled with love and caring for others and a desire for others to know this One who loves you so much, turn to "warning", pointing out "false teachers", accusing, berating, attacking, judging. No one is off limits, not even your best friend, your parents, your siblings. You excuse it by saying Jesus said He came to set you against your family. Many people believe strongly that God killed countless numbers of little children, as well as unborn children in the womb, in the OT. They also believe strongly that God is against abortion. Which one is it? 1 ) He either did those things and is then holding man to a higher standard than He holds Himself, and His Son's words and actions on Earth were lies. Or.. 2 ) He didn't do them and is wanting man to love others and consider life as sacred as He obviously does by His Son walking to the cross to give man eternal life and union with Him, and telling His followers to walk in love for even their enemies. I pick #2 even though it goes against trusting traditions of man. It does go along with trusting Jesus and right division of scripture.

I've found people question why I don't get into debates with them on my page, they make their own assumptions about me not studying scripture, me writing my own bible, I'm trying to silence my critics (when my page is public and they are free to abuse me), etc. I decided to address this and explain to those that wonder that I don't really entertain theological debates because most of the time it' s pointless, most people are not likely to change their minds, it can just end up dragging on and on, and to me it is a complete waste of time. Most of the time you can tell someone that is humble and really wants to learn or has a real question, as well as those that humbly want to express a different view. You also can tell real quick those that just want to fight and call you names. Christians have to remember when it comes to their theology that many of their doctrines could actually be traditions of man or interpretations influenced by their own emotions, thoughts, or biases. We can also affect our interpretation or doctrines by how we envision God, that's why it's important to have a correct view of God as Father not as destroyer, or you will color that image into all that  you read, Holy Spirit or not. There have been various revelations as time progressed since the writing of scripture, some true, some not so. To be so close-minded and dogmatic about your beliefs without acknowledging that your beliefs may in fact not be as accurate as you believe them to be does Jesus a disservice. That is why we must be always open to learn, but in that same respect if things are centered around killing, stealing, or destroying, we should really take pause before receiving that as truth. I think the number 1 thing that affected evangelism for the worse and created all this drama that now happens when people think they are sharing the Gospel is that the church has taken a term from the bible and given it a new meaning. That word is repentance. The twisting and redefining of that word has changed the gospel from a "come as you are" to a "clean yourself up first". It took a comment from Jesus of hope and guidance and twisted it into an order or demand. Your definition of this word completely changes scripture, thoughts, words, and interpretation.

Reading scripture should always lead you to feel good, feel hope, feel Christ pop off the pages. If anyone is teaching you that reading scripture is supposed to leave you feeling want, feeling oppressed, feeling guilt, they are preaching a false gospel.

Why is it so easy for Christians to make entire doctrines about a single scripture, mostly taken out of context with the other verses surrounding it, the preceding chapters, or to whom it was directed to in the first place and then follow this doctrine with fiery zeal, heralding it as a command from the Lord, but yet find it so hard to follow His very simple, clearly stated, and non debatable command to love God and love people?
