The Chilean miner

Jimmy Sanchez, one of the 33 Chilean miners who have been trapped for over two months in the San Jose copper-gold mine in the Atacama Desert, would like to make one small correction to all the stories about life in the mine: “There are actually 34 of us,” the nineteen-year-old miner wrote in a letter sent up from the mine on Tuesday, "because God has never left us down here."

The Law of the Garbage Truck

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport.  We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly. So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!' This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.' He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it t

End of self-effort

But in my own life it was only when I came to the end of self-effort--when I saw that I couldn't do all the things that Christians are supposed to do--that I gave up and turned to the Lord. When a man turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. When we stop trying to do it ourselves and rest in Jesus, trusting Him in us to live the Christian life, we are no longer blinded by the veil. - Juan Carlos Ortiz

A rock star

I used to be popular, I was cocky, it was almost like being a rock star. Everyone knew me or knew of me. Everywhere I hung out I took over. That all changed, I changed. Now to most I'm nobody. Some people don't even see me, I'm just a quiet guy in the crowd to them. But you know what? I'm happy being nobody to the world, because now I can be somebody to God. Thank you Lord.

John 14:6

In a half hour this gospel will be etched in my flesh, it has already been firmly entrenched unto my soul... John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

I am responsible

No one can keep me down! I am responsible for my responses in life my attitudes and my decisions. Holy Spirit I ask for your help. You live in me and you are my Helper! I refuse to continue blaming others. I will respond to life with God's Word. I am responsible for my thoughts my actions and my REACTIONS. I abandon believing things are the fault of anyone else. I am more than a conqueror through God's great love.
